What are hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids, which are swollen veins either inside or outside the rectum (internal and external hemorrhoids), flare up fairly commonly, but are usually alleviated within two weeks of an over-the-counter or prescription treatment. How common are hemorrhoids? Who might get them?
Hemorrhoids often referred to as piles, are uncomfortable yet common medical conditions that affect the veins around your rectum and anus.
Hemorrhoids are an uncomfortable yet surprisingly common condition that doesn't discriminate. Nearly 5% of all Americans experience them, with the likelihood increasing after age 50.
Several factors can contribute to the development of hemorrhoids. Anyone can get hemorrhoids; however, you're more prone to developing them if you're the following: strain a lot during a bowel movement, sit for long periods on the toilet, are pregnant, obese, have a low-fiber diet, have chronic constipation or diarrhea, and do the heavy lifting.
What are the types of hemorrhoids?
The types of hemorrhoids depend on the development of the swollen veins.
Internal Hemorrhoids
Internal hemorrhoids are inside the rectum but are usually painless. However, internal hemorrhoids can become prolapsed if too much strain is put on them when passing stools; prolapsed hemorrhoids will hang outside the anus and may need to be manually pushed back in place.
External Hemorrhoids

What are the symptoms of hemorrhoids?

However, the most common symptoms include an itching around the anus area, pain or discomfort during a bowel movement, bright red blood in the toilet bowl after a bowel, lumps or swelling near the anus, and general pain or discomfort in the rectal area.

Haemorrhoidectomy
The affected area is bonded with a tight stitch to control bleeding during surgery before we can safely remove excess tissue. The wound may then be closed using dissolvable stitches and an absorbent pack placed inside your rectum to help stop further bleedings, which should stay in place until after your first bowel movement post-op. This procedure typically takes around half an hour up to one whole hour, depending on the severity and complexity of cases.
Transanal Haemorrhoidal De-Arterialisation (THD)
THD is a revolutionary way of treating piles, approved by NICE. This minimally invasive surgery involves using an ultrasound to locate the hemorrhoid's feeding arteries and then carefully closing them off with sutures through a special proctoscope instrument – all without having to cut or remove any tissue!
